I just returned this to Belkin. It came with a hairlike scratch on it, which I would have ignored. But, it also left a cloud over the screen every time I got a tight fit with the two flat surfaces flush against each other. I use a cheap metal case right now, and this thing is much heavier and bulkier than that. It would not mount onto my player with the case on like my old case. This thing is very nice looking and has sturdy plastic. The touch wheel seemed to work fine through the protective plastic. The nice look of the thing just frustrated me more.

3 Stars Touchy, Touchy
While I liked this chewing gum pack-sized player, especially for quality & feature-to-price ratio, I returned the Samsung YP-U3JQP 2GB player. Why?
The earphone plug didn’t seat firmly enough in the jack, resulting in sound cutting in and out with the slightest movement. I tried other earphones; the problem WAS with the player’s jack. A headphone plug with a 90 degree bend might mitigate this.
The second problem was the control pad’s extreme feather’s-touch sensitivity: if the unit contacts anything, the controls change. The “hold” switch prevents that, but every time you change the volume, track, etc., you have to remember to first unlock the hold switch, and then lock again after any adjustments. Touchy, touchy. Major P.I.T.A!
I was patient and gave myself a two week period for learning and patience curve. No dice. Those two major problems drove me up the wall. However, if not for the deal-breakers, this would be a good product for the price. And frankly, if my budget weren’t so tight, I’d probably have kept the thing as a spare player–albeit an eccentric one.
BTW, I had no problems setting it up, transferring files, or using it as a storage device in Vista. Though i did bypass the proprietary software, and just treated it as another drive using Windows Media Player.
5 Stars Extremely satisfied…
Terrific sound! 1st time user/buyer, easy to understand and work. Highly satisfied. One thing, I didn’t like the heat set that came with it… kept falling from my ears, so I ended up buying a different one.
2 Stars frustrating
i was excited to receive my new mp3 player as i am so done with i-tunes! this device was so easy go load up with songs – just drag and drop. that was probably the best feature of the mp3 player.
here’s what i didn’t like:
- the color – it is very highlighter, 90′s scrunchie sock pink
- the menu controls (play, stop etc) are very touch sensitive and most of the time i end up having to scroll through all the menu options to get back to the “now playing” to fast forward, stop or pause – very annoying!
- the usb connector thingy (yes that’s a technical term lol) it was very cheap feeling and i would suspect it does not take much pressure to snap it off.
-the ear buds were horrible!
5 Stars Made simple for people like me!
I am electronically illiterate…this player is awesome for me! Very simple to figure out and the quality of sound is great! I would not suggest this product for those who want a lot of songs, but it holds just enough for me! I would also suggest this for anyone who is looking for a gift for someone who is in their teens! Thanks bunches Amazon!
2 Stars Doesn’t work with all computers
You better be computer savy if you buy this MP3 player or you may not get it to work on your computer. It is not a plug and play device, at least not on my laptop (Acer, Windows XP SP2) The computer would not recognize the device, no drivers were available on the Samsung website and an email to customer service had me try things I had already tried on my own with no success. A friend and I spent several hours using Google and finally found a fix. From what I read on the internet I’m not alone, there are a lot of customers who purchased the same model who were having some of the same problems. Now that it works with my computer and I’m able to transfer music it’s a nice, compact little unit. The sound seems to be just fine and it’s easy to use. Just be prepared to do some research if it doesn’t work on your computer.
